Jay S. Duker, MD, is Professor and Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine and the Director of the New England Eye Center in Boston, Massachusetts. The New England Eye Center is one of the largest and busiest academic practices in the country.
Dr. Duker’s major research interests include imaging of the posterior segment, retinal vascular disease, and drug delivery to the posterior segment.  He has pursued these interests as a Principal Investigator of numerous studies funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Eye Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and industry, including studies of optical coherence tomography and several phase III trials.  Dr. Duker has over 180 journal articles published and has authored four books and dozens of book chapters.  In addition, Dr. Duker lectures extensively both nationally and internationally.  He is an Associate Editor of Ophthalmic Surgery and Laser Therapy, and has served on the editorial boards of Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Review of Ophthalmology, Evidence-Based Eye Care, and Retina Today. He has been a reviewer for many journals including Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmic Surgery and Lasers, Retina, and The New England Journal of Medicine, among others.  Dr. Duker is the recipient of the Honor Award and Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.




Elias Reichel, MD, Founder

Professor and Vice Chair of Ophthalmology, Tufts Medical School

Elias Reichel, M.D., is Professor and Vice Chair of almology at the Tufts University School of Medicine and Director of the Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery Service of the New England Eye Center.  Dr. Reichel specializes in both medical and surgical diseases of the retina with a strong research interest in age-related macular degeneration, retinal degenerations, and retinal vascular diseases.  Dr. Reichel pioneered the development of sub-threshold laser treatment for neovascular age-related macular degeneration.  He has developed several devices for vitreoretinal surgery, lenses for laser treatment and a novel ocular anesthetic that received FDA approval in 2008.  Dr. Reichel has over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and lectures on a national and international basis.  Dr. Reichel serves as an advisor and consultant to research sponsors in the design of clinical trials and commercialization of pharmacotherapies for ocular conditions, and has been an investigator in nearly 50 clinical trials.






Nadia K. Waheed, MD, MPH, Founder

Dr Waheed is Director of the Boston Image Reading Center and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Dr Waheed received her medical degree summa cum laude from the Aga Khan University Medical School and a Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. She completed a residency in Ophthalmology and a Fellowship in Retina from the Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Program in Ophthalmology. She then joined the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute as faculty. This was followed by a year of International Ophthalmology, following which she joined the Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
Dr Waheed’s research interests include ocular imaging, diabetic eye disease and age related macular degeneration, as well as clinical trial design and analysis. She also retains a strong interest in International Ophthalmology. She has published extensively in ocular genetics and imaging. She is the retina section editor for Eye and has been a reviewer for many journals including Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Ophthalmic Surgery and Lasers and Retina.
